He has the following responsibilities: - Assigning instructors for clinics and appointing UIC's for PWSA, OASA,and ORSA sanctioned tournaments
- Fields all rule book related questions from any one who needs clarifications
- Passes on any related info from S/O to the umpire community
- Offer input for selections of umpires to Canadians
- He handles any grievances or concerns regarding umpires for all of zone 3
- Appoint Deputy UIC's and look after evaluations for anyone wanting one, or appointing evaluators in my absence.

Zone 3 Deputy Umpire in Chief (Junior Development) - Lindsay Barfoot Position Description: Lindsay has accepted the position as Deputy Zone Umpire in Chief for Zone 3 and has lead responsibility for the Softball Ontario Junior Umpire Development Program in the zone. The JD Umpire Program aims to recruit and develop young umpires 12 18 years of age and provides: - Cost efficient entry into the Softball Ontario Umpire Program
- Full umpire insurance coverage
- Umpiring clinic instruction from certified Softball Ontario umpire instructors
In 2010, Softball Ontario has an objective of training 800 junior umpires in its JD clinic program In Zone 3, we are targeting to achieve 100+ junior umpire graduates from up to potentially four JD clinics. Lindsay will also, as part of the Zone 3 JD Program, be leading the implementation of Softball Canadas Umpire Mentoring Program by making it possible for as many senior umpires as possible to provide tangible mentoring support to less experienced umpires. In that role he aims to achieve a high level of participation and commitment to the principles and objectives of RMG.
